Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff.
Tanith M. Graham, M.D.
Dr. Tanith M. Graham, an anesthesiologist and interventional pain practitioner, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an associate professor of anesthesiology.
After receiving his B.S. in chemistry from Belhaven College in 1976, Graham earned his M.D. at UMMC in 1981. He had internal medicine residency training from 1981-84 and an anesthesiology residency from 1984-86 at the Oregon Health and Science University, Portland. He is board-certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine.
He served on the OHSU faculty as a clinical instructor in the Department of Anesthesiology while in private practice as an anesthesiology and pain physician in Portland. In 1992, he began a 22-year affiliation with Oregon Anesthesiology Group in Portland before joining the Columbia Pain and Spine Institute in Gresham, Oregon.
He brings an interest in evidence-based anesthesiology and pain medicine; Graham has a special interest in ultrasound-guided injections for both acute and chronic pain relief. An invited speaker at scientific meetings nationwide, Graham is the author or coauthor of two articles in peer-reviewed professional publications.
Andrew Tyler Gunter, M.S.
Andrew Gunter, a genetic counselor in the Department of Pediatrics/Division of Medical Genetics at UMMC, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of pediatrics.
After receiving his B.S. in genetics and B.A. in biological sciences with honors from Clemson University, South Carolina, in 2011, Gunter earned his M.S. in genetic counseling at the University of South Carolina, Columbia, in 2014. He then came to UMMC as a genetic counselor in June 2014.
Gunter has coauthored a peer-reviewed journal article in Human Mutation and has coauthored two posters presented at national scientific meetings. In addition to instructing students at the Medical Center, Gunter is involved in genetic counselor education training programs across the southeastern United States and has given presentations on medical genetics to local high school students.
He is certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling and is an active member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors.
